Doris now available in 11 languages – French and Polish added!

March 25th, 2009 by Demian Turner

We just rolled out another version of Doris with 2 new languages, French and Polish.  This will be good news in particular for our Polish users, they are one of our most active language groups.

This release would not have been possible without the generous efforts of Damian Gruszecki for the Polish translation, and Thomas Goetz for the French – thanks to both of you!

By the way the only major (European) language we’re missing now is Italian, so if any of you Italians out there want to volunteer …  We’ve also been seeing a lot of traffic from Norway, we’re very happy to support this language if our users want it.

We’ve also started incorporating our iPhone support into the site, checkout the updated homepage.  We are now on day 7 of waiting for approval for the app store, c’mon hurry up Apple!  We’ve also completed a LITE version of the iPhone app which will be submitted tomorrow, this will have all the features of the full version except that it will only sync with the site once every 24 hours.

March 3rd, 2009 by Demian Turner

Last week we deployed our translation environment and today have just sent emails to our first volunteers to start the ball rolling!  Very shortly we’ll be able to announce Doris in another 5 languages:

  • French
  • German
  • Swedish
  • Chinese
  • Spanish

If you want to see Doris in a language not listed here please get in touch! You can also take a look at our Translation Guidelines page.  We used a similar system to translate Kindo, a social network for families, into 17 languages.
